The round world

“It’s funny! We came into this world that is all round, to live in a two-dimensional way.”

As if our whole life unfolds on a flat surface, without depth!

In this surface we put down our roots, building our daily life and our apparent balance and if there are no major hitches it can also work.

There is nothing wrong with a linear life, made up of small things, of a cottage, of family affections and dreams transformed into so many tiny sacrifices to feel serene.

But the third dimension, which is often underestimated because it’s not useful to make ends meet, is the one that really makes us alive: depth.

Deep inside is that unbearable little voice that continually tells us who we are, what we feel and what we really want.

Only that it scares us so much to listen to each other and to agree the three dimensions, that rather, we convince ourselves that we live well even leaving it mute.

The little voice will always find a way to knock on the door of the heart and I think we should all become more dashing and let her in if we don’t want her to turn into a deafening pain in the ass.

In the end, what could happen to us more terrible than staying in a two-dimensional?
