Did I ever tell you about Irma’s pantry?
If I didn’t… it’s only because I had my hands busy slowly breaking one of his focaccias with aubergines, courgettes and sesame, and flax seeds.
“You can’t imagine what goodness on t!!”
Now I’ll try to describe what I felt when I discovered this place that smells of pasta, goodness, and love.
I had just moved and wandering the streets of my city, I notice two beautiful ladies who, with their hair tied up in a turban headband and, showing mastery, are making pasta by hand. The shop has a beautiful window and you can watch them work from the outside.
Intrigued and even a little hungry, I decide to go inside to find out more about what it is.
When I cross the door’s threshold, a bell warns them of my entry and while one of the two women comes to welcome me, I realize that I’ve been hypnotized by the products displayed in the window.
«Good morning, welcome! My name’s Irma. Do you want something?»
My eyes had just made a careful scan: ricotta candies and basil pesto; ravioli with cheese and pepper, butter, sage, and parmesan; lasagna; vegetable swivels; tagliatelle with white meat sauce… and also homemade breadsticks and tart.
«Yes, yes. I take it all!» I replied to her with mouth-watering and mullet-shaped eyes.
«But for how many people?» Irma asks me smiling.
«Just for me!» I say showing her my twenty-eight teeth (I lost four of them, due to too much judgment) ready to bite into all those delicacies.
And think that before knowing this pantry, I had almost lost my appetite. But now I know, that when food is made with love it has another flavor and also a beneficial effect on the mouth, eyes, and heart.
As the maestro Fellini argued: Life is a combination of Magic and Pasta!
