«Then remember: when the Queen arrives, you’ll have to bow. Please don’t give her your hand if you don’t want to do it first. First, you must address Her by calling her “Her Majesty” and when asked to sit down, you won’t ever give Her your back. Do you get it?»

«Yes yes, all clear!» I replied to the Head of Relations with a trembling voice.

I was very agitated, finally one of my biggest dreams was about to come true. Shortly thereafter, I would have met Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. It didn’t seem real to me! My letter had been chosen, among many, and I had been invited to Buckingham Palace.

«Ok, come on! Go now… the door will open and you can enter. Her Majesty The Queen’s waiting for you.»

“Oh, what a thrill! So come on, bow, Her Majesty, and… then? What was I supposed to do? I don’t remember anymore. Ok! Ok! Whatever… I go.”

As I walked through the door, my tongue was paralyzed.

«Good morning Madam, sorry… Her Majesty!» I made a half bow and stood there, waiting for a reply. The floor was beautiful! Who knows how I had gone up to that point?

Then luckily, a butler came to put me back upright and whispered to me to sit down.

Here I knew: the chair was right behind me! Like a red shrimp I went backward with small steps, praying not to stumble… but, of course, something went wrong. One of Her Majesty’s corgy came to me to celebrate and I slipped to the ground with my legs in the air.

Two minutes of panic and silence, in which I wanted to disappear, and then The Queen’s resounding laugh. At that point, I started laughing too.

«Cri… Cri! Wake Up! You were complaining, even though it almost sounded like laughter. What were you dreaming about?»

«Where is The Queen? Noooo, don’t tell me it was just a dream… nooo.»

«Oh yes Cri, Queen Elizabeth II died a few days ago.»

«I thought she was immortal, what a pity!! That’s why I haven’t sent her the letter yet.»

I will always cherish the memory of this Queen with the colorful dresses, the many hats, the kind smile, and her reign so long.

“Hello, Her Majesty, I will remember you like a piece of history and it was nice to meet you in my dreams.”
