«I wish I could have had a son, I would have transmitted him my passion for motorcycles and he would have worked with me in my workshop…»
«But I was born dad, do you love me anyway?»
You have to imagine a girl of eleven about who, struggling with the first discoveries, development and the first afternoon outdoors walking with school friends, began to feel discomfort inside her body.
She wanted to be a boy to please his father.
Petra was a beautiful little girl instead, even when she dressed in those baggy sweaters and classic cut trousers or when she tied her long golden hair in a bun behind her neck, her femininity continued to blossom among the thorns of her rose garden.
But there was one thing that stood out more than anything I have described to you so far: her eyes were sad. She was wearing the wrong dress!
Instead following her nature, listening to herself deeply, without the thought of being wrong… she tried to put herself in someone else’s shoes… a certain… “Peter” and she was convinced that in that way her father would have loved her more.
So when she was eighteen she got a motorcycle as a gift, it was huge, when she drove it she looked like a wren on a racing car and finally she received the much desired invitation from her father to take a trip together, on their two wheels.
It was on that trip that, as she drove into the wind instead of feeling light, she felt a stinging sensation… the motorcycle suit she was wearing was tight.
“… maybe it’s the wrong size”, thought Petra.
She pulled over to the road side, started to undress… took off his helmet, overalls, boots… she untied his hair and suddenly felt something she didn’t know… she felt free… yes, FREE from her wrong beliefs. As if taking off that armor, she had opened the prison in which she had locked herself up, denying herself.
Her father had not noticed that she had stopped and he was continuing his run, just as he had never realized how wrong it was to have wanted Peter in Petra’s place.
But now she was free… and as bewildered as she was… she knew she would never give up feeling that way again, for any reason in the world and especially for anyone.
It’s not the way by putting on the dress that likes to someone else that you’ll be loved the most, so always choose to wear the freedom to be fully yourself… that’s the only path that leads to love, the real one.
