I would like to look like a salad. Maybe the sweet one! Lean, fresh, hydrated and always green. So, I eat it. However, in the long run I would know nothing and I would always be the same color.
Then I would like to be a macaroni pie, one of those mouth-watering good ones, loaded to the point of taking you to heaven in broad daylight and then to purgatory at night. I eat. Uhm…no, maybe it’s not the right food, too many ups and downs.
So I could be a fruit salad. Colorful, light, rich in vitamins and naturally sweet. I eat this too. But then I’d find a discussion with the glycemic rate and I don’t want to hear the usual sweet stories.
But if it’s true that we are what we eat, why haven’t I figured out what they are yet?
Sometimes I feel good, sweet and optimistic, others instead heavy, loaded and cumbersome.
I think the mistake was that I only fed my body and not my soul. Without realizing that they are one, each other’s vehicle.
This is why it is very important to choose the food we eat with awareness and recipes should never lack a fundamental ingredient for a healthy diet: love. They say it’s miraculous.
Guess I have to take a crash course in “existential” cooking if I really want to find out who I am. In the meantime I rely on the Mediterranean diet, it seems to me a good compromise!
