Io non sono abbastanza / I’m not enough

Si chiama atelofobia, la paura di non essere mai abbastanza.

Alice è di una sensibilità rara. Sale e scende nella profondità del suo cuore per cercare i tasselli mancanti.

Eppure il suo puzzle è già ben definito e non si notano pezzi stridenti.

Ella però non è soddisfatta, pensa di essere in perenne difetto. Così, cerca continuamente di migliore qualche aspetto, per poter essere all’altezza di ogni situazione. E l’ansia finisce per avere il sopravvento.

Il respiro si accorcia, le mani iniziano a tremare, lo sguardo si abbassa e lei si sente piccola in mezzo a giganti.

Ma se aprisse gli occhi, proprio nell’istante in cui vorrebbe scomparire, vedrebbe che quei giganti sono ombre e pure imperfette.

Per essere all’altezza di qualcuno o qualcosa basta sentirsi tali.

Non esiste un codice per valutare il proprio valore in riferimento ad altri. La nostra unicità è più che sufficiente per vivere in modo paritetico.

Perciò cara Alice, continua il tuo viaggio dentro te stessa ma solo per far emergere tutta la tua vera bellezza.

It’s called atelophobia, the fear of never being enough.

Alice is of rare sensitivity. She ascends and descends deep into her heart to find the missing pieces of her.

Yet her puzzle is already well established and no jarring pieces are noticeable.

But she is not satisfied, she thinks she is in a perennial defect. Thus, she continually tries to improve some aspects, to be able to live up to every situation. And anxiety ends up taking over.

Her breath shortens, her hands start shaking, her gaze lowers and she feels small among giants.

But if she opened her eyes, at the very moment she would like to disappear, she would see that those giants are shadows and even imperfect.

To be worthy of someone or something, is enough to feel such.

There is no code for evaluating one’s worth with others. Our uniqueness is more than enough to live on an equal footing.
